Freaky new video from Here We Go Magic. The Brooklyn-based fivesome seem to pride themselves on being difficult to pin down, so it makes sense that they’ve coupled this dreamy, friendly-sounding track with a somewhat horrific, bloody video. And somehow it works. Unless you work in Wes Craven’s editing room, you might want to consider this one NSFW – there’s a great deal of gory shots here, dark blood dripping from various band members’ heads and mouths, a fairly disturbing birth sequence, and even some brief male nudity. But when you find yourself in a less official setting, be sure to check out “Casual” from Here We Go Magic, one of the more interesting music videos of the year. It’s streaming below, courtesy of Noisevox. Then when you’re done, go track down the 2010 LP the track is off of, Pigeons, an eclectic mix of electronic psychedelica and 60s-infused garage psych-pop that sits somewhere between Caribou’s Andorra and the Apples in Stereo’s Fun Trick Noisemaker. Utilizing these influences well, Here We Go Magic have made one of the most original and compelling psychedelic records of the year, for the second year in a row.
