Last year, Boston-born 90s house vet Armand Van Helden and child-DJ-sensation-turned-Kanye-West–personal-DJ-turned-dance-festival-headliner A-Trak, two of the biggest American bills in dance music, announced they would be forming the duo Duck Sauce, to make disco house jams together. But it wasn’t until this year’s “Barbra Streisand”, released on A-Trak’s own Fool’s Gold imprint, that Duck Sauce found their first international hit. This song is banging in clubs all over the world, a hit in the U.K., number one on the Australian dance charts, and I, in fact, heard Annie Mac play the track at Webster Hall in Manhattan, opening for Vitalic last Friday (I assure you, it killed). Now the song’s got a celebrity-studded video – including cameos from ?uestlove, Pharrell Williams, Chromeo, and Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig — and Duck Sauce seems poised to take the world by storm. The DJs don’t have any formal plans to release a full-length at this point, but I would expect after “Barbra”‘s success, they’re considering it.
